Cornelius Schnauber
Like many of the émigrés he writes about in Hollywood Haven, Cornelius Schnauber is himself a German transplant. He is an associate professor at the University of Southern California who has been living in Los Angeles since 1968.
Born in Freital, Germany (near Dresden) in 1939, Schnauber is the author of many publications on film, literature and opera. In Germany he was a university student in Hamburg (literature, political science, phonetics/linguistics). He is currently the director of the Max Kade Institute for Austrian-German-Swiss Studies. He is also a freelance writer for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung and several German radio stations. Schnauber is married and has two adult children.

Barbara Zeisl Schoenberg
The translator of Hollywood Haven is the daughter of the Austrian composer Eric Zeisl, one of the Hollywood exiles described in the book. Barbara Zeisl Schoenberg is married to the son of another famous composer, Arnold Schönberg.
