Rudolf Ulrich, the author of the book Österreicher in Hollywood (“Austrians in Hollywood”), is trying to track down more information about some “missing” Austrians who once worked in the U.S. film capital. If you know anything about the people described below, please contact me (in German or English). Although the new second edition has now been published (April 2004), he and I are still working on updating biographical information at this Web site. My contact information is listed below.
This first edition of Österreicher in Hollywood
(1993) has now been replaced with the new,

Arthur BAUER - Actor. Need: Date of death, biographic info.
Frederick (Fritz) BRUNN (b. 23 July 1903 in Vienna) In the '30s he was a chief cinematographer at Ufa in Berlin. Played small roles in various Hollywood anti-Nazi films (and worked as a cab driver). Three of his 1943 films: "The Moon Is Down," "The Cross of Lorraine," and "Passage to Marseilles." His last appearance was in "I, Jane Doe" (1948). Need: Biographic info after 1945.

Mark M. DINTENFASS - Producer. Need: Birthplace, biographic info.
Billy ENGLE - Actor. Need: Birthplace, biographic info.

Herman GEROLD - Actor. Need: Birthplace, date, photo, biographic info.
Lisa GORA - Actress. Need: Birth date, origin, work, biographic info.
Evelyn GREELEY (E. Huber) - Actress. Need: Birthplace in Austria, biographic info.
Bud GREEN - Songwriter ("Sentimental Journey"). Need: Birthplace, biographic info.
A.W. HACKEL - Producer. Need: Birthplace, biographic info.
Charles KRANZ - Executive. Need: Birthplace, photo, biographic info.
Ludwig LANDY - Producer. Need: Birth date, photo, biographic info.
Oscar LORAINE - Actor. Need: Birthplace, biographic info.
Grete ROZAN (b. 1912 in Vienna) Known as Trude Rosen in German films of the 1930s. In the U.S. she played minor roles, notably in "So Ends Our Night" (1941) with Erich von Stroheim - based on a Remarque novel. She also appeared with Hedy Lamarr (Kiesler) in the German film "Die Koffer des Herrn O.F." (1931). Need: Biographic info after 1945.
